ARGUMENT IS CRUCIAL…HAVE AN ANGLE, HAVE A POINT, SAY SOMETHING!
1. Based on documents 14 and 13, it seems clear that slavery was brutal and was very physical. Slaves were very mistreated.
2. Based on documents 6, 7, and 8 it seems clear that slavery became more popular as indentured servitude dropped in numbers. Although, both indentured servants and slaves became more expensive during the same time period.
3. In article 2 and14 it shows that slavery were treated like animals, split from their families and were put to wear bells on their neck.
4. Documents 10 and 11 seem to suggest that slavery was a common place and an ordinary lifestyle.
5. Documents 13 and 14 seem to suggest that slavery during this time consisted of extreme amounts of violence and degradation, however, it was supported by moral rationale. Slavery was more than just physical to slave owners, it was considered preservation and bettering of life.
6. What we learn about labor in the states from documents 9 and 15 is that as the economy grew, the population of slaves also had to grow.
7. based on document 7 graps 2 and 3 show that between 1683 and1689 with low demand, the supply of slaves decreased, and with high demand of slaves in the years such as 1690 and 1698 the supply increased.
8. Based on documents 13 tied in with the statistical documents, although slave were mistreated in countless ways, they were very important because of the work they performed.
9. Documents 12 and 14 illustrate that southerners wanted us to believe that slaves were treated fairly; well clothed, well housed, well lodged, and moderately worked.
10. Documents 13 and 14 demonstrate seem to suggest that slavery was the freest form of living and that the white master actually protected the psychological security and well being. The slaves were considered either too ignorant and would be an insufferable burden to society if free.
11. Graph 1 shows as the necessity of slaves increases the necessity of servants decreases between the years of 1657-1694.
